Year 1/2 News

Let's Celebrate Diversity

On Friday the 19th of March the Year 1/2 students celebrated diversity by participating and engaging in cultural workshops and then sharing a culturally diverse lunch. We listened to and played the African drums, learnt how to do an Irish jig, played Indigenous outdoor games and created Italian Carnivale masks. Thank you to all of the parents that supported our day by packing a lunch that represented your families cultural background. It was so lovely to see the children explaining their dishes to one another and describing what ingredients are used and the country of origin where the dish was from. Some of the dishes that were shared were; lasagna, noodles, pretzels, crostoli, sushi, scones and pastizzi. YUM!!!

Essential Assessment Maths Tasks

We have set some maths tasks on Essential Assessment related to the units we have worked on (Place Value and Data). The students may work through these tasks which will be available until the end of the school holidays. We will set new tasks at the beginning of Term 2. Passwords are at the back of the Reading Diaries.

Year 1/2 Weekly Timetables & Learning Intentions for Weeks 1 & 2 in Term 2 have not been included in this edition of the newsletter. Teachers will be working on these this week and throughout the holidays. Instead, Learning Intentions will be posted via Skoolbag Monday 19th April.
