In the Art / Craft Room

Art

We said goodbye to Joy Hester and welcomed Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran to the Art Room this term. Ramesh is a contemporary Australian ceramist who focuses on imaginative figurative sculptures.

Modern day icons, gender norms and mythical creatures all influence his art practice. All students have begun drafting their ideas in their sketch for their clay sculptures.

Our next challenge is to create realistic looking clay figures using the coil and slab techniques.

Parents and carers are most welcome to assist in the art room to support student learning. You will need a current working with children check. Please sign in at the office before you come to the art room.

Looking forward to working with all you again,

Craft

Students have completed their felted craft items. We can't wait to have them on display at our Arts festival in Term Four.

This term we are exploring our classroom main lessons through clay. Students  in the Foundation class are looking at nature.

They made pinch pots and added leaf designs to these. Class One and Two are creating dragon sculptures and then going on to explore Australian animals.

Class Three and Four are researching shelters to create clay traditional houses.

Class Five/Six are looking to ancient Egypt for their clay inspiration.

All students have also spent some time learning the skill of wool winding so we have ample balls of wool ready for our creative craft projects.

Parents and carers are most welcome to assist in the craft room to support student learning.

Our Craft days are Tuesday morning FS, 1s and 2S and Thursdays morning 3s, 4S and 5/6S.

You will need a current "Working with Children Check".  Please sign in at the office before you come to the Art Room.

Looking forward to working with all you again,
