Meet our Maths Team

Hi there! My name is Sarah Narramore. I teach Year 7 English and Maths and work with the Numeracy team in Junior years. I have moved here from Doreen where I was teaching Middle School English to Year 5’s and Year 7’s. I grew up in the sunny town of Mildura and have always enjoyed the relaxed lifestyle of the country. I love to spend my free time reading, enjoying time with friends and travelling. My favourite places I’ve ever travelled to are Italy and the Greek Isles.
Hello my name is Chris Eldridge. I have been teaching Math and Japanese at Bairnsdale Secondary College since 2016. Prior to teaching I worked as an Assistant Support Worker for students with a disability at the University of Melbourne where I also did both my undergraduate and Masters of Teaching. In my spare time I enjoy collecting and refurbishing old video game consoles and other small electronic devices.
Hello my name is Jacqui Telford. I grew up in Geelong and moved to East Gippsland as a child. I have lived and worked everywhere from Melbourne to England, but am grateful to call East Gippsland home. I’m one of 4 children and have 4 children of my own, aged 3 to 8 years. I went to Monash University in Clayton, Melbourne where I studied a double degree in Science and Law. I finished my degree in Sheffield in England. After working in the legal field, I completed my teaching training at Victoria University. At home, our kids have one cat and four very loved guinea pigs. I love to spend my free time involved in sport, travelling, camping and taking my kids to new places and introducing them to new experiences.
Hello my name is Erin Hocking. I grew up in the Yarra Valley and moved to Paynesville this year after joining the Bairnsdale Secondary College team. I went to Monash University and studied primary and secondary education, specialising in Math and Psychology, both of which I am lucky enough to teach at our school. In my spare time you will often find me helping out on scout camps, completing diamond paintings and watching the latest movies.
Hello, my name is Mardi Looker and I have been a Math teacher at the College since halfway through 2019. After graduating high school, I worked as an Outside School Hours Care educator. It was here that I discovered my interest in teaching. While studying my Bachelor of Education (Prep to Year 10) at Monash University, I was also able to follow my interests in mathematics and psychology.
I grew up in Ringwood in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne where I lived with my mum, dad and older brother. They all now live in Geelong, along with my gorgeous nephew who will be 2 in July. My hobbies include puzzles, escape rooms, board games, swimming and cuddling my adorable kittens, Bobbie and Coco.
Hello, I’m Ryan Telford and I’m part of the Math/Science team here at BSC (the College). I grew up in Melbourne, south-eastern suburbs, and moved out to East Gippsland with my now wife, Jacqui Telford, a little over 10 years ago. I used to be an Integration Aide at the school for 4 or 5 years while I was studying to be a teacher. We love this region, especially for raising our four young children. The lakes, the bush, the beaches and access to the mountains, we feel that East Gippsland region is a treasure. I love spending time with my kids, basketball, swimming, fishing, playing piano, reading… (maths and physics too).
Hi, my name is Miranda Calderwood and I teach Math and Science. I moved to Bairnsdale in 2020 from Newcastle, New South Wales, just as Covid-19 sent the world into lockdown. I am the youngest of four girls (my poor dad!). I am often found playing video games in the company of my strange bird Barry, who is a Corella x Galah. I have learnt a lot from my colleagues since starting here and am proud to call them my friends.
P.S. I assure you I do practice fire safety with my students!
Hello my name is Alice Zhong. I teach in the Math KLA. I was born and raised in China until I was 18 years old. Then I went to university in England. I spent a few years in University of Liverpool. I came to Australia in 2016 and studied at University of Melbourne for my Master degree . I’m living in Paynesville at the moment and love the beautiful scenery there. I love to spend my free time at home. Although I do have my new year’s goal: workout more and learn a new sport! My favourite motto: I’m realistic enough to know that it’s hard to reach every kid. However, I’m more optimistic enough to get up every morning and try to make a bit difference
As a teacher, I like to think there's nothing we can't do, no limits we can't surpass and I like to live by those thoughts in everything I do. Whether its teaching, music, painting, robotics, software engineering or even just playing a board game with friends, I aim to try my best, enjoy the moment and celebrate the small victories as they happen. As a teacher, I hope to help anyone around me find their passion and excitement for what they are doing, so we can work together to further their own goals and achieve their dreams. It may not be easy; it may not always be fun; but when we truly set our minds to something, there is nothing that can hold us back!
