Youth Advocacy and Leadership Training - Bushfire Recovery Victoria x DET Workshops

Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) are running youth advocacy and leadership workshops for young people to lead change in your community and be heard by decision makers.

This workshop informs and inspires young people to create change on issues you care about! Using real world examples and learning various tips on engaging with the greater community this workshop helps shape what advocacy might look like for you. YACVic is working to hear directly from young people and community members in rural and regional areas about the response and recovery from the devastating bushfires across Eastern Victoria, and your experiences and ideas for a better future. At these sessions you will hear directly from young leaders in your local community and how they have learned to be changemakers via the YACVic RSPCA Activators Program

  • Wangaratta - Sunday 30 May 2021, 11am - 3pm
  • Lakes Entrance - Sunday 30 May 2021, 11am - 3pm

Attending this training will entitle you to a FREE ticket to YACVic’s upcoming Reshape Our Future Youth Forum on Monday 31 May.

  • Wangaratta - Wangaratta Arts Centre, 33-37 Ford Street, Wangaratta 3677
  • Lakes Entrance - Bellevue on the Lakes 201 Esplanade, Lakes Entrance  3909

These training workshops on youth advocacy and leadership aim to develop your skills in advocacy, leadership and decision-making. Sometimes, talking about these issues can be difficult and it may bring up difficult memories and experiences. YACVic will ensure trained professionals are available at these sessions if you wish to have a private discussion about how these events have impacted you personally and what ongoing supports are available for you and your family.

You can find more information on each of the workshop on our webpage HERE

Further info Pronouns - a pronoun is basically a word used to refer to a person other than their name like they, she and he. We ask you for your preferred pronoun because there are heaps of them out there, and there are lots of reasons it’s important to use the correct pronouns a person prefers.
