Year 9 My Career Insights – Morrisby Carer Profile

In this issue of the College newsletter details of the Year 9 My Career Insights – Morrsiby Career Profile are included in the Wurrin Hub page.

Career education is a key building block for lifelong success. We want our students to be confident and capable to manage their careers by understanding their interests, strengths and aspirations.

The My Career Insights- Morrisby Career Profile forms part of a suite of DET reforms including the My Career Portfolio- My Career Action Plan introduced in 2019. Once completed students have login  for life access to their Morrisby Careers Profile.

The Morrisby Career Profile is an invaluable tool that is used extensively worldwide to help students (and parents) navigate their way through the senior years of a student’s education and assist in guiding their career and further education and training options.

By completing the My Career Insights – Morrisby Career Profile Year 9 students identify their strengths, interests, work preferences and styles which assist  them as they start to make decisions about their senior subject choices, career pathway, further study and employment options.

The profiling session takes approximately 120 minutes to complete- it includes timed sections plus break times.  Students will complete their profile during English classes the week of 24th - 28th May 2021. The profile then forms the basis of all future Career conversations.

Parent/Guardian consent is required prior to students undertaking their Morrisby Career Profile. Permission forms are being distributed to students this week. We seek your assistance in returning these to the Wurrin Hub before Wednesday 19th May 2021.

Please contact Careers if you would like further information.

VCE Careers Expo

A 6.00 am start was the beginning of a long, busy and informative day for 50 Year 12 students and accompanying staff who travelled to the Caulfield Racecourse to attend the annual VCE and Careers Expo on Friday 30th April 2021.

Once at the venue students were able to visit over 250 exhibitors gathering information and speaking to representatives from Universities, TAFE Institutes and private training providers.  In addition, displays and information stands from the ADF, Vic Police and a wide range of employers provided students with information on future employment options

The seminar rooms on levels one and two were popular. Presenting sessions on topics as diverse as ‘Don’t Stress – Its only Year 12’ to ‘Getting into the course of your dreams’ students were able to listen to experts and ask questions.

To add to the days experience the group visited the Caulfield campus of Monash University where we were met by the Access Monash ambassador team who lead us on a tour of the campus.

Perfect weather ensured the campus green was an enjoyable space to end our day.  Sincere thanks to the Year 12’s who displayed outstanding behaviour and respect towards others.
