Swing Band Performance
On Friday 7th May the Bairnsdale Secondary College Swing Band performed their first event for the year at the Bairnsdale Golf Club. They provided the audience with three sensational sets of music featuring some of the great jazz standards. The performance featured many fine solos from the students including vocal solos from Zara Steenholdt and new comer to the band, Tajwyn Corben. Stay tuned for more performance from this group as we move through the year. Thank you to our wonderful staff for organising and attending this event.
AMEB - Australian Music Examinations Board
The Australian Music Examinations Board is an independent organisation that administers examinations in music, speech and drama, including examinations assessing performance on various instruments. These practical exams are held twice during the year for country candidates. AMEB exams are a useful motivator for students and help students prepare for VCE exams. Students receive a certificate and grading for successful completion of the exam.
Students should discuss the option of doing an exam with their music teacher prior to enrolling. Students who elect to work towards an exam must commit themselves and practice on a regular basis to achieve a positive result.
The first examinations will take place on a date between 26th July and 7th August at the school. Students who wish to enter this exam session need to have returned the form to the school with payment to the office by 19th May. Forms are available at the music centre.
