LIBRARY NEWS

Term 1 has seen a very positive borrowing attitude from our students. A variety of novels have been borrowed, and it's fabulous to see and hear the students exploring our new Library space and shelves and finding some golden oldies as well as many of our newer books.  Each month we receive a subscription box of books, made up of picture and chapter books.  These are recently published books of quality literature that have been chosen by children educators.  Students can also add their suggestions of books to buy to our 'wishlist' book that sits on our circulation desk.  We certainly value the book conversations we have in the library and students telling us "when the latest book in a series is out or coming out" and "have you seen or heard of this book? - it looks so good".

From Term 2, all students can borrow 2 books and many students have asked to borrow more which we can't say no to!

Happy reading over the holidays!

PRC - Premier's Reading Challenge Victoria.

COHR participates in the PRC every two years.  We are currently registering and setting up accounts for all students and will share their log in details with you next term. The Challenge has been open since January and goes until September. Prep - 2 students need to read / listen to 30 books and 3 - 6 students need to read 15 books.  Our 3 - 6 students have recorded their books they have read since the beginning of Term 1 so they will be able to add those books next term. Our P - 2 students can start to keep records of books they are reading from now on and they can add any books they have read in Term 1 as well.  Books that are read in the Library will be added to their accounts as well.

More information will be in next term's newsletter as it is a new website and I'm still figuring it out!  For now, just keep reading and writing down the books.

Scholastic Bookclub at COHR

Issue 2 orders have arrived earlier this week so students should have their new books just in time to snuggle up and read over the holidays!  Next term there will be two issues with a variety of books to choose from.  Thank you to families placing orders as COHR receives rewards when we place a Library order.
