Parent Payment/College Charges Update

East Doncaster Secondary College would like to thank you for your support of the College as we endeavour to provide the best possible education for your child.

The College is committed to ensuring that our parent payment requests are accurate and transparent and kept to a minimum so it is affordable for all parents. As part of this process, the College had our charges reviewed and approved by the Department of Education and Training in 2020 prior to sending them to parents and guardians.

The Department has recently informed us that they made a mistake in their advice to us and that two of the items we have asked you to pay for in our Essential Student Learning Items need to be amended. We find this a disappointing outcome given the importance we place upon providing both clarity and compliance on this important aspect of school governance, and for which we sought confirmation from the Department of Education prior to initial publication to parents. Please see below for these amended items.

Student Print/Photocopy Credit ($20): should be categorised as an Optional Item
SSV Interschool Sports Program ($50): Now titled: “All school Swimming and Athletics Carnival days and Cross Country day. Includes all transport costs to and from venues, entry and hire costs (can use CSEF if eligible)”.

The College still provides these two items and still requests your financial contributions towards them. In order to maintain the College’s commitment to transparency and to comply with the Parent Payments Policy, we wanted to communicate these two minor changes to you.

Individual College charges for each year level have been communicated via a Compass Newsfeed today for your reference.

If you have already paid your College Charges for 2021 and still wish to pay for Student Print/Photocopy Credit, no further action is required.

If you no longer wish to purchase Student Print/Photocopy Credit for your student, please reach out to the school and we can provide you with a line of credit towards other future charges. We can also provide you with a refund if preferred.
