East Doncaster SC finishes second at the 2021 EMR Swimming Carnival!
The EDSC Swimming team achieved its best result in school history, finishing a clear second at the 2021 Eastern Metropolitan Region Swimming Carnival held at Aquanation (in Ringwood).
Finishing behind the overall winners, Balwyn HS and ahead of third placed Mount Waverley SC - one of the strongest teams our College has fielded in the last decade set off to this year’s EMR finals with high hopes, but we could have never predicted such wonderful success!
449 – Balwyn HS
388 – East Doncaster SC
296 – Mount Waverley SC
Going one better than our third place in 2019, our team had several individual highlights on the day but the collective team spirit and support from all team members stood out across the day. Although not all students received medals for their efforts, a number of our students swam personal best times that allowed our team to score points in every race we were represented in throughout the day’s program.
The major highlights from an action packed day were the following students who received gold medals and a place in the SSV State Finals (on Thursday 22 April):

Year 8 Whitehorse Baseball
On Friday May 19, a makeshift crew of Year 8s headed to compete in the Whitehorse Division Baseball competition. Due to a lack of numbers, we had to combine our boys and girls teams in to one team. None of our players had played much before and whilst this showed in our first game, the spirit and enthusiasm of the students shone through. After each game, the girls and boys got better and better, sharing their duties, and supporting each other to do their best. Their good nature and attitude was so evident, that the referees took time out from their duties to run through some drills and explanations with our students.
Even though we didn’t win a game for the day, the kids had a great time and finished with smiles on their faces. They approached every match demonstrating the EDSC College values of teamwork, fairness, respect and resilience. Both Ms Nettelbeck and Mr Davies were very proud of the way this team represented the College, and encourage them to try again next year.
