Year 7 Chinese Incursion

On Tuesday March 16, the Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne was invited to provide a Chinese workshop for the Year 7 students who are learning Chinese.

To enrich their Chinese culture awareness and promote their enthusiasm in continuing learning Chinese language, students were engaged with the guest speaker, Clarissa Belanti, talking about Chinese study. Students were really inspired by Clarissa’s experiences, including the Chinese bridge competition, the Chinese dating game show and the Chinese spring festival gala, and asked lots of questions about how she learnt Chinese so well.

Students also enjoyed the Guzheng performance with Chinese Calligraphy and Chinese drawing demonstrations, which are known as Chinese traditional arts.

After listening to the introduction about Chinese dance and music, some students participated in performing Chinese dance with the folk song ‘Sambo auspicious’.

In additions to this incursion the Chinese team also organized some activities for all students to promote Chinese culture during Thursday lunchtime, including demonstrating calligraphy and teaching students to use chopsticks.
