Health & PE Week!

Another huge success!
Health and PE week has been a huge success with a variety of activities running for staff and students throughout the week. The week is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of meeting the National Physical Activity and Sedentary guidelines and provide opportunities for increasing activity.
Year 11 Phys Ed students managed the promotion and coordination of many events for students throughout the week as part of their unit 2 studies in PE. Congratulations to all year 11 Phys Edders for their successes.
Staff were involved through participation in a pedometer challenge to reach 10,000 steps a day, basketball match, dodgeball against the students, workouts and energiser activities. Special thanks to all staff that did take the activity challenge to burn some energy and release some happy endorphins.
Congratulations to all award receivers and excellent work to Lauren Jacobs & Pauline Drinan for a fantastic event.
A huge thanks to the tireless work of the HPE Team. Thanks to all the students that got in there and had a go! We hope you enjoyed yourselves.

Sport Awards Breakfast
On Friday 23 October Northcote HS hosted the very first Sport Awards Breakfast. The ceremony aimed to celebrate the achievements and contributions students and staff have made to the sport program. We are very proud of our students successes both within the interschool sport program and in their external sporting pursuits. Students, parents and staff who attended the event enjoyed a fantastic morning of good food and celebration, entertained by special guests Saverio Rocca and Caitlin Friend.
Congratulations to all the recipients of awards in 2015, you should be very proud of your efforts and contributions. The sport department would also like to extend a special thank you to the sport captains, canteen staff, administration staff, special guests and to all students, families and staff that supported the event. It is set to be the beginnings of a fantastic tradition here at Northcote HS in years to come.

Rookie Me Draftstar Event
Northcote HS was privileged enough to be involved in a promotional event for the AFL’s drafting program, Draftstar. Rookie Me, an organisation associated with Draftstart, lead 60 NHS footballers, both boys and girls, through four different fitness tests. The results gathered from the fitness tests can be used by the athletes to compare themselves to others of their ago across Australia. It is a fantastic tool for any young athletes with big aspirations. The event had a really great vibe and the students pushed themselves to the limit. Thanks to the guys from Rookie Me for visiting.
