As some parents may be aware, the school has been moving to Compass for roll-making, reporting and communication between the school and families. These changes will assist in having a more streamlined approach across the school.

At Croydon SDS we are always striving to provide the highest quality education for our students, which requires that we continually review and refine how we develop and deliver a curriculum that provides a full range of learning opportunities for our students while supporting students’ individual needs.

Over the past 12 months, teachers have worked together to develop curriculum planners that provide students with learning experiences and opportunities the same as their peers in all schools across Victoria.

The changes that we have made to IEP’s will now highlight for families the areas of the Victorian curriculum students will be experiencing whilst identifying students’ current skills and the learning goals which were discussed at the recent SSG meetings. The IEP’s will now document the adjustments that the school has put in place to assist students in achieving their goals.

We believe the updated IEP’s will support greater collaboration between schools, families, and external service providers. We encourage families to share the IEP with any private therapist their child is working with. Teachers welcome input to the IEP, which will be discussed and reviewed at the next SSG.

SSG will be held week 5 term 2, 22 May-26 May; teachers will have further information regarding these meetings in term 2. IEP’s will be sent to parents shortly.

Inclusion Day

As a specialist setting, Inclusion is something inate to our everyday practices. Because of this, all other schools look to us for the gold standard of Inclusive Practice.

To celebrate how well we do inclusion, last year, Croydon SDS celebrated our first Inclusion Day.

With the success of last year's Inclusion Day, Inclusion Day is now an annual celebration whereby we further our commitment to continual improvement in the Inclusion space.

This year, we are celebrating Inclusion and our House colours together under the theme: 'We all fit together'. This event will be held on April 5th where the school community are invited to come to together to celebrate our diversity.
