Music News- Week 9

Mercy Village Concert

On Monday 27 March, Year 11 and 12 Music ATAR students with Barbershop and Senior Voices held an afternoon concert for the residents of Mercy Village Retirement Centre in Wembley. The concerts have been taking place annually since 2020 and are a highlight of the Village social calendar for many residents! John XXIII students were warmly welcomed and given generous applause; the quality and variety of performances was noted by many. The Music Department looks forward to ensuring this concert is an annual event as we share the gifts and talents of our students with the wider community.

Australian Combined Schools Music Festival - Billeting

At the end of Term 2, students of John XXIII College will be participating in the Australian Combined Schools Music Festival. This festival brings together students from across Australia in a combined Concert Band, Choir and Symphony Orchestra and culminates in a gala concert at Winthrop Hall. As part of this exciting event, we are seeking expressions of interest in hosting students as a billet family from Wednesday 28 June to Sunday 2 July (four nights).

Billeting students involves arranging transport to and from Methodist Ladies College during the festival and the provision of lunches on three days. A Working With Children Check is required (volunteer level) with the application cost covered by the Music Department. A complete schedule of festival events, transport and accommodation details for billet families is available from the Music Department.
