Brown House Raffle – Torie Finnane Foundation

As reported in the last newsletter, Brown House is running a raffle in support of the Torie Finnane Foundation. Ticket sales are now OPEN!

The TFF endeavours to improve maternity services in regional New South Wales. TFF Chair, Mr Liam Finnane, spoke with the school at Chapel about Torie’s story and her impact on the wellbeing of mothers and babies during her time at Orange Hospital in the midwives clinic. The generous families of Brown House have donated exciting prizes to the raffle to help raise funds for TFF, including a weekend getaway, a family photography session, a Waratahs signed jersey, Nintendo Switch and much more.

Tickets can be purchased from Brown House students or bought online here: https://www.raffletix.com.au/tffcharityraffle2023

Thanks for your support and good luck in the draw!

Calling Host Families

We are seeking families to host visiting international exchange students from Kinross Wolaroi School in Terms 2, 3 and 4 of 2023.

Imagine hosting a young person from Japan, England, Scotland, Switzerland or France (to name just a few) and learning about their traditions, food, language and lifestyle at the same time as you share yours with them.

We are delighted to be able to welcome exchange students from overseas for short and long-term visits to our community – the average stay will be six to twelve weeks. The program is targeted at students in Year 10, however hosting is not restricted to families with Year 10 students, even Junior School families can apply to host!

You don’t need any special skills or languages to be a host family, just a willingness to share your home, and enough space for your visitor to have some privacy – ideally a spare bedroom. You’ll also need to be able to spare some time to nurture a young person who is undertaking a bold adventure in a foreign country, and to show them a little of our beautiful region.

We hope that the students who visit us will benefit from the experience of being part of Kinross Wolaroi School and the wider Orange and Australian community.

Hosting is a fabulous experience for the whole family and often leads to life-long friendships. Read more about our exchange program here: https://www.kws.nsw.edu.au/school-life/international-student-exchange-program
