Robothink afterschool robotics & coding program
Robothink after school program
Windang PS is the first school in the Illawarra to offer a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program teaching robotics and coding.
After fun-filled demonstration lessons from the Robothink team, our school community -Kindergarten to Year 6 - jumped on board to be a part of hands-on immersive learning of a Thursday afternoon. Sixteen students attended our first session on 23 March 2023; there were lots of smiles and sounds of enjoyment as the students began building their very own robots from scratch.
Our Kindergarten to Year 2 students built snapping and spinning propellers and our Year 3 to 6 students built functioning remote control cars in 50 minutes flat!
Each week our Robothink facilitators will bring a robot kit that builds on the skills learnt the week before. Whilst there is a base robot to build, the students are free to think creatively and build innovative designs through experimentation with the building blocks and mechanisms.
We are aiming to run two sessions in Term Two on a Tuesday and Thursday to fit in with our students other out of school hours activities. If your family was unable to get involved this term, because of Thursday commitments, email Mrs Moulton (louise.moulton@det.nsw.edu.au) to express interest for the Tuesday.
Please note that payment will be for the whole term next term (8 x $15 = $120).
We can’t wait to see the creations the students produce in Term Two!
