WE ARE PEOPLE OF STRENGTH - WE ARE PEOPLE OF GENTLENESS.

Dear Parents and Carers

What a few weeks it has been!

  • We have celebrated our Student Leaders as they settle into their roles.
  • Assembly has been revamped and for now we are gathering in the Amphitheatre every Monday at 2.10am. Our student leaders and senior teachers have worked together to prepare and present at this time.
  • Teachers have continued to impress me as they work tirelessly to make sure all children have their needs catered for. They are vigilant while in the yard during breaks and are supportive of those children that need to be 'handled with care'.

Last Friday we celebrated Golden Hammer Day. Teachers and students dressed in their team colours and rotated through a number of activities with enthusiasm and excitement. We were thrilled to welcome Echuca-Moama Kiwanis who came along and cooked us lunch followed by Snow Cones!

On Saturday, 12 months of planning came to fruition with the Elmore Tractor Pull. This is a partnership that started mid-2021. Although the day was hot and dry; parents, supporters and children worked together to raise funds for our school. Most importantly, we worked together to provide the best educational facility we can to our community. We had fun and lots of laughs as we cooked, served and entertained everyone that attended the event.

We must thank the parents that represent St Joseph's on the main committee. Led by Grant Shawcross, Luke Ryan, Andrew James, Lee McKee and Joel Wolfe. these men have met regularly with the Elmore Field Days committee to plan and prepare for this year's Tractor Pull.

  • We are looking for members to step up and support our effort on the committee. If you would like to be a part of the Tractor Pull Committee alongside members from the Elmore Field Days Committee, please let Grant Shawcross or Liz Trewick know.

As I write this, our Parents and Friends committee are preparing for the Welcome Night to be held tonight at the Rochester Golf Club. We look forward to gathering and connecting as a community.

Building Update

Not much has changed since our last newsletter.

Catholic Education Sandhurst, Catholic Churches Insurance and myself are working to plan for the restoration of the next building.

We are preparing to finish the sorting of the pavilion on Thursday 6 April and we are grateful for families for working with us as we plan for this Pupil Free Day.

Wellbeing & Mental Health

On Tuesday afternoon, staff had a visit by Dave from MIND Australia. The purpose of this visit was to support staff as they keep an eye on the wellbeing of all of our children. He also spoke to the importance of Staff Self-Care as they care for others. We thank

Rochester Community House for supporting us in making this connection.

Families that would like support to connect with any of the Mental Health supports that are at the 4R's are encouraged to speak with Liz or any staff member.

Take care and stay in touch.
