Musical Games are very popular with the students: Posty is a favourite. The game reinforces listening skills and understanding rhythmic notation whilst having fun.

Music Groups

In addition to the weekly class music lesson, Primary students have a number of musical opportunities from joining a music group at lunchtime or after school and opting to learn a musical instrument one-on-one with an instrumental teacher (payment for lessons are additional to school fees.)

The Primary music groups are underway: two instrumental groups; one for Year 6 and one for students in Years 4 and 5 held during lunch; a string group, Fiddlesticks, held after school; and soon to start, Primary Choir for Years 3, 4 and 5 students, to be held on Wednesday before school.

The first session Fiddlesticks was on Thursday and it was exciting to welcome new faces to the group. Students learned the basics including how to hold the bow which involved playing a pass the cups game.

If your child is interested in joining, you or your child can let me know and a permission slip will be sent to you via EdSmart correspondence. Fiddlesticks is held afterschool on Thursdays from 3.20pm until 4.20pm. There is no cost and instruments are provided but students who own an instrument are more than welcome to bring it to use.
