From the Principal

Megan Richardson

Each year Catholic Schools across the country support Project Compassion over the six weeks of Lent.  Project Compassion brings schools, parishes and supporters together to raise funds for some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.  Mount Carmel College supports Caritas through a range of fundraisers from Project Compassion boxes to pancakes to raffles, raising awareness of the plight of those most in need.  Students across our College will be praying, sharing stories and exploring the ways Caritas uses funds to support, educate and upskill people across the world.  I encourage families to access the Caritas website, share the challenges these communities face and explore ways we can support Caritas at school and at home.

Kindergarten and 2023 Enrolments

You may have noticed our recent TV advertisement campaign, signs and electronic commercials across Hobart and its surroundings as we commence enrolments for next year. This has already begun to take effect with enrolments for all classes coming in steadily for this year and next.

With this in mind, it is essential all current families submit any enrolment forms for Kindergarten and Year 7 in 2024 as soon as possible, with places filling fast.  I remind any potential new families and friends to contact the College Office for an enrolment pack or to book a time for a tour and enrolment interview.

Please note that enrolments for current Year 6 students automatically roll over and there is no need for parents/carers to submit an application.

Open Day - Sunday 5 March, 2023

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, our staff and families as well as many visitors came to explore Mount Carmel College. Visitors participated in student-led campus tours, fun activities and met staff to develop a sense of our vision, growth over the next few years and our unique community.  Special thanks to all staff and students who gave up their Sunday afternoon as well as Mrs Caroline Jager and Miss Hannah Legge who were instrumental in the facilitation of this successful day.

Years 7 - 10 Athletics Carnival

On Tuesday, Mount Carmel College secondary students participated in their annual Athletics Carnival at the Domain Athletics Centre.  Events including both track and field were participated in enthusiastically by our girls, with tremendous leadership from our House Captains.  An atmosphere of have-a-go and doing your best rather than winning was evident with the many God Moments witnessed throughout the day. Congratulations to every student for their positive participation in the day and special thanks to staff and parents who assisted in the many roles required for a successful day.

EdSmart Notices

Please note there are some families still to complete EdSmart notices indicating you understand the appropriate College policies and guidelines.  These range from Uniform and Bus Guidelines to acceptable ICT use.  We will be reaching out to any families who have not been able to complete these in the next week.  Thank you for your support as we ensure every family has a clear understanding of key documents and expectations at Mount Carmel College.
