Selamat Siang

Time is flying by this term and now we have the very hyped-up I.C.E! Students have been surveyed on what I.C.E programs they want and now once a week they get to go to the very fun ICE programs! Some of these programs include nail art, coding with Scratch, Dungeons and Dragons, singing, recording podcasts, origami, woodworking, and the list goes on and on! We are excited and thankful to do these activities, so keep an eye out for the I.C.E showcase in the future.

In Reading, we have been doing Literature Circles for the past few weeks. During Literature Circles we read a text, type up our notes, and share our thinking with our group members. We all are assigned a different role each week in our group and have to do the role's job. The roles are as follows; Discussion Director where you lead the group, Connector which is where you make different connections from the book, Word wizard where you find the meaning of new or interesting words, Stellar Summariser where you create a summary of the chapter, Adventuring Artist is who draws a picture of something that happened in the text, and Literary Luminary where you find an important quote from the text.

This week in Writing we have been preparing debate speeches. We were placed into groups of three. There is an affirmative and a negative team, they both write arguments about the given topic and then present their speeches. In the process of writing these debates, we all explored lots of outstanding persuasive devices and used some stunning vocabulary to persuade our audience! Once we finished writing our speeches we then presented them in front of the class which was really nerve-racking!

March 2nd was the day of our annual Twilight sports, people from all over our community participated and assisted in many activities like our short-distance, long distance and our novelty races. We also had our best-ever novelty races with the Year Fives doing the Crab Walk, and the Sixes taking to the stage with their mini Ninja Warrior Course! Everyone participated in the novelty races and gave it their all! Great job to all the year levels and Houses for such a successful Twilight Sports! We also thank our parents for supporting our sausage sizzle and thank you to the community for coming and assisting our school.

Last week when cooking, senior classes have been creating sweet and savoury pastries. We had to use our folding skills to cover the mixture, then use a fork to seal it. Some groups made up of 3-4 people were sent to the garden to collect vegetables for the next class. Everyone had a lot of fun making them and eating them. There is also a cooking book on Google Classroom that has the recipes for what we cook.

Students have been exploring sustainable concepts and we have also begun to explore the City of Melbourne in Minecraft Education. You can also access the city of Melbourne Minecraft world at home to explore a version of the city that has been recreated by Melbourne Metro.
