Principal's Message
Term 1 Week 7 2023
Wishing everyone an enjoyable long weekend and stay safe.
This week we had two incidents that meant that we needed to follow our Emergency Management Plan. At MPRPS&K we have a very active OHS committee called the Safety Squad - a representative from each Learning Centre team meets to work through our essential Safety Measures and our Occupational Health and Safety Checklists. When incidents such as the diesel spill out the front of the school and the tree branch falling occur it is really valuable to know that we have in place, the necessary policies and procedures to support our decision making. As published in previous newsletters and tabled at School Council we have undertaken an extensive tree survey by a highly qualified Arborist who has again came out today to ensure the integrity of the tree that dropped a branch. I also want to thank everyone for making contact and letting us know and the Maker family who have finished taking away the branch. Over the Easter holidays we will be completing any tree removal and pruning as advised by the arborist. Although we have 7 to 12 months to complete this work we believe acting sooner is better.
Mprps is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

There was a buzz around the school today (actually there often is - its the best place!)
Today was the first session of PMP and a huge thank you to all of our parents that are helping out with this program. It is so much more valuable if students can have directions followed up at each station with adult advice and coaching points. And of course Junior Rotations and ICE, again thank you to our parents and family connections for assisting. Your assistance allows us to provide a range of quality activities with small groups of students.
Works are on track to recommence within the pipe-track north of Lorikeet Street from Thursday 16 March. The works will then close Lorikeet Street from week commencing 20 March and close Mount Pleasant Road from Monday 27 March.
Lorikeet Street will reopen prior to Mount Pleasant Road closing. Mount Pleasant Road will reopen on Monday 3 April (closed for a full week).
NAPLAN begins on Wednesday 15th March. NAPLAN Sessions will be held in the morning. Please see the timetable below:
Teachers have prepared students with a practice assessment and NAPLAN style questions in lessons. We also remember that this is an assessment on one day at one time in a students learning journey. There are many assessment that we conduct across the term to inform us of what each student needs to learn next.
