In each newsletter, our Year 12 leaders will now provide this student voice section where they will put their own thoughts, ideas and reports of what is happening at the College!

Meet Grace...

My name is Grace Berryman and I am one of the 2023 school captains. I am excited for this year to better connect with the school community. I enjoy playing sport, especially netball and once I finish year 12, I plan to go to university and study occupational therapy.

This year as a leader I want to follow more by example not just by word.

To make ourselves more open to the school community the student mission team has decided to create a drop box that will be kept in Front Reception, it is for any students wanting to provide suggestions or feedback to the captains. This will be finalised in the next few weeks so keep your eye out for an announcement on SIMON to let you know it’s up and running!

I look forward to getting to know all of you better soon 😊

Meet Alessi...

Hi My name is Alessi and I am one of this year's 2023 school captains. I enjoy playing football and basketball as well as a variety of many different sports. I enjoy being around friends and family.

I wanted to become a leader because I felt like I had something to offer and wanted to make positive changes in the school.

Women's Period Health

In Year 12, we as leaders have been working very hard to promote equality and fairness but to also be a voice for women's period health. Women's period health and period poverty is a major health issue, as period poverty is not being able to purchase sanitary products and 1 in 5 women struggle with this.

Last year, a group of Year 12 students organised sanitary products for the female senior toilets. These baskets included female sanitary items such as pads and tampons of various sizes as well as providing wipes, deodorant, dry shampoo, hair ties as well as cue tips. These baskets provided much-needed products for the students in senior school and created a safe and healthy space where people could get what they needed. This year a group of year 12 female students, associated with captains have continued these baskets and have been providing these products.

We are aiming to create a safe environment for women everywhere where they can discreetly access products as well as to end the stigma around feminine hygiene. We also aim to include these products possibly in the junior toilets so they do not need to go to the office and ask, which can be very embarrassing and awkward.

These period baskets have allowed us to create a safe and secure environment for all women where they feel supported, comfortable, and heard.
