Kitchen Garden

 IN THE KITCHEN

The SUMMER garden and Summer produce have continued to be the focus in the kitchen at the moment; Zucchini (Marrow), Tomato, Cucumber and Apples are being used in our beautiful recipes of the moment.

TOMATOES

APPLES

Our apple tree has the most delicious apples that we have harvested... they're almost too good to cook!

We used an apple spiraliser to peel and core the apples. We cooked them and then made a crumble topping.

I loved hearing one of the children in Grade 4 quote ....... ' this is the best food I have ever eaten!'

We also used plenty of mint and parsley from the garden too.

The menu board has consisted of;  zucchini slice, cacik dip (tatziki),  tabbouleh salad and apple crumble.

We are looking forward to using tomatoes more to make some homemade fettucini with tomato sauce.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thanks Woolworths store at Karingal Hub for donating $50 towards the kitchen each month. This money goes towards supporting our program and we are very appreiative of this!

Enjoy your weekend!

Garden News......

We've enjoyed picking loads of tomatoes from our garden and enjoyed even more eating them in our yummy recipes

This week we harvested over 380 smaller tomatoes and delivered them to our cooking team.

This month in the garden we've had to work really hard and we've had to battle the hot weather and hungry local creatures eating our produce.

As we move into Autumn our 5 /6's have cleared out our Summer produce, while our 2's have been making bug hotels. Its also been a great time to mulch our garden to keep our garden beds warmer over winter.

Happy Gardening.
