Murrup Barak, Melbourne Institute for Indigenous Development at the University of Melbourne have opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students interested in studying at university.

 

Murrup Barak Camp

 

The Murrup Barak Camp is an opportunity for Year 11 and 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students on an ATAR/IB pathway to experience what studying at university is like. 

 

During the Camp, participants will:

  • Attend the ‘A Day at Melbourne’ event hosted by the University of Melbourne. 
  • Participate in workshops hosted by current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students 
  • Stay on-campus at a Residential College
  • Learn about the programs and supports available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students 
  • Visit Murrup Barak and connect with staff 
  • Meet other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Year 11 and Year 12 students 
  • Visit Melbourne city 

 

Dates: Tuesday 27 June to Thursday 29 June 2023

Year: 11 and 12 on an ATAR/IB pathway in any state/territory 

Cost: There is no cost to participate. All expenses are covered including accommodation, food and flights to Melbourne. Participants will stay at a Residential College on-campus.

TheVictorianIndigenousEngineering WinterSchool (VIEWS)

 

The Victorian Indigenous Engineering Winter School (VIEWS) is an exciting program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from across Australia to expand their perspective on engineering, information technology and technology. 

 

During the Camp, participants will:

  • Engage with industry experience and exposure to engineering in action.
  • Explore engineering and IT study options at: 
    • University of Melbourne
    • RMIT University
    • Swinburne University
    • Monash University
  • Participate in hands-on workshops to develop the problem solving and design skills used every day by engineers
  • Participate in activities that provide an insight into the global challenges that engineering can address in areas such as climate change, renewable energy, land and resource management, robotics, technology and medicine 
  • Stay on-campus at a Residential College

Dates: Saturday 1 to Saturday 8 July 2023

Year: Year 10, 11 and 12 in any state/territory enrolled in mathematics or science subjects. 

Cost: There is no cost to participate. All expenses are covered including accommodation, food and flights to Melbourne. Participants will stay at a Residential College on-campus.
