Lots of Socks for World Downs Syndrome Day 6 April

Lots of Socks Fundraiser for World Downs Sydrome Day

The SRC’s would like to introduce our next fundraiser Lots of Socks! The aim of this fundraiser is to raise awareness and donations for Trisomy 21- more commonly known as Down Syndrome. Down syndrome is a genetic condition – it is not an illness or disease. It occurs because of an extra chromosome. Our bodies are made up of millions of cells. There are 23 pairs of chromosomes, or 46 chromosomes, in every cell. Down syndrome is caused by the occurrence of an extra chromosome, chromosome 21. On Thursday the 6th of April, the SRCs have decided to use the Lots of Socks theme created by Down Syndrome International and celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.

All children are individuals and unique and have their own emotions, interests, abilities and characteristics that make them unique. The idea behind the Lots of Socks initiative is that all types, shapes, sizes of the same thing can be unique in their own way, and do the same thing. At CNPS we value each and every child and act upon one of our key core values- inclusion. We hope that this fundraiser will showcase this.

On April 6, we are inviting you to wear socks as colourful as they can be or even mix and match socks and bring in a gold coin donation. We encourage you to have them as bright, colourful, short or long as you want! We invite you to add even more flair and wear bright and colour clothes to match with your socks!

We can’t wait to see all the different Lots of Socks!
