Leading Teacher – CIS

With the year flying by we are now into the last half of Term Four.  As many of you are aware, late in Term Three our school under took the CIS Preparatory Visit Review to prior to nexts year’s Evaluation Review. The Preparatory Review celebrated what we are doing well and also identified areas for future improvement.   The short list of recommendations, will drive much of the work we do around the school to in the next twelve months and I hope to share them with the school community in my next piece.

However, it is also important to celebrate the vast number acknowledgments we received in the report for what we are doing well.   There are far too many to list in this short piece, so I selected five areas in which the CIS applauded the school:

  •  The Executive Team for the expert design and leadership of a comprehensive, coherent and focussed curriculum which is strongly underpinned by respected educational research and standards and provides high quality learning opportunities for all students.

  • The dedicated teachers and support staff for their professional, detailed planning and delivery of a high quality, whole-school curriculum, which caters for the development of student knowledge, understandings and competencies.

  • The highly professional teachers for their delivery of exceptional quality classroom teaching and learning programs which feature student personal goal setting, differentiation of tasks, problem solving, student voice and the celebration of both effort and achievement.

  • The School Council, Principal and Maintenance Manager for their shared pride in, and commitment to the maintenance and improvement of GWPS premises and facilities to ensure high standards are met for the benefit of the whole community.

  • The whole school community for robust genuine commitment to developing intercultural understanding that leads to a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student learning and well-being.

All of these commendations highlight the magnificent work put in by all members of our school community who help make our organisation what it is.  Yet, with so much going well across our school we will still remain committed to driving continuous improvement and getting even better at what we do every day.

With this in mind we look forward to the future and consider the advancements we will make. It is with fascination and anticipation we wait to see what these advancements in our school will be, to ensure we remain a world class educational organisation.
