The Australian Maths Competition and Maths Fun Day 2020
The teaching and learning of Mathematics at Simon’s has continued to be a focus this year. Our students have had various opportunities to engage and challenge themselves in maths activities throughout the year such as The Australian Maths Competition and our whole school Maths Fun day.
All of The Australian Maths Competition certificates are being sent home this week. The results and certificates this year are different to normal due to COVID -19 restrictions and the competition being held on-line. Students' certificates this year will show their raw score only. I would just like to take this opportunity again to say how proud I am of all one hundred and twenty- one students who had a growth mindset and entered the competition this year. Our students achieved outstanding results and displayed a positive attitude towards Mathematics!
We celebrated a whole school Maths Fun Day last week with a series of fun activities centered on Mathematics. The day was a great way to get the children thinking about Maths in non-traditional ways, proving that it can be fun and enjoyed by everyone, whatever their ability!
