Assistant Principals' Report

October 2020

Students returning to on-site learning

We have students and staff at school!!!! What a fantastic week it has been, to have the school buzzing with activity. We had 104 excited Year 7’s who have spent more of their time at secondary school learning from home than they have at the college. This week we saw the rest of the school returning and what a fantastic buzz. We are looking forward to seeing everyone this week as they settle back into the routine of school work.

Our teaching teams have been busy getting things ready to get back into their face-to-face teaching and learning programs. During our Professional Learning Collaboration (PLC) meetings, we are looking at student data and making decisions on the essential skills and knowledge we want our students to come away with by the end of this year. Teachers will focus on implementing our Instructional Model with engaging tasks and activities and will work on grouping students to differentiate their learning pathways.

Semester Two Reports

During Semester Two,  we have adjusted our usual learning program to reflect the recent period(s) of remote and flexible delivery. This means that our reports will look different again to previous year’s reports. The Department of Education and Training has recently adjusted the expectations around student reporting for Semester 2 in recognition of the continued disruption caused by COVID-19.

Reports will include:

  • a description of the areas of the Victorian Curriculum Foundation to Level 10 taught;
  • for English and Mathematics:
  • student achievement information represented on a continuum of learning
  • a short comment on progress and achievement across the Semester.

for all other curriculum areas taught:

  • student achievement information represented on a continuum of learning
  • a comment on student participation and engagement in the learning program offered;

End of Formal Schooling for Year 12

On Friday this week the Year 12 cohort celebrated this last formal day of secondary schooling.  Activities on the day included a lunch and a whole school virtual assembly to commemorate their time at Greensborough College.  With a virtual audience consisting of appreciative parents and a well-behaved student body this positive event reaffirmed the importance of whole school assemblies to share significant school experiences and to build school culture.

 We wish our Year 12 students well in their exams and in their further efforts to secure tertiary positions, further training, apprenticeships and/or employment.

Student Leadership at

Greensborough College

Over the coming weeks I will be putting out information on how to apply for Student leadership positions at the College for 2021. These range from the following:

School Captains and Vice Captains

Sports Captains

VCAL Captains

SRC captains

Junior School Captains

House Captains for Year 8, 9, 10 and 11

Being a student leader at Greensborough College is an opportunity to develop and demonstrate the core values of the College.  Courage, aspiration, integrity, respect and equality are integral to the role of a leader within the College and the College community. As a leader, you will lead others in an active capacity by running programs and events and you will also lead in a symbolic approach; modelling the behaviours expected by Greensborough College.

Please look out for the Compass posts for relevant information on how to apply for these positions. If you seek more information please come and see Mr Jenner.

Stay well,

Glenn Jenner and Rose Thomson
