2021 Student Leadership Team Workshop

Along with 19 determined prefect leaders, we were fortunate enough to experience the ‘Student Leadership Team Workshop’ across last Thursday and Friday. This called for a large amount of reflection upon the topic of leadership - a term that carries with it a strong history of individual personalities and qualities. The idea of leadership is so well documented that to put it into action can often seem quite a daunting task, and thus the workshop broke this idea into manageable categories.

It was clear from the outset that each of us had our own qualities, ideas and personalities. These differences bring valuable insight to a range of topics, and through discussion and debate, a unified strengthened position is achieved that better reflects the team’s ideals to provide a positive influence on the school community.

This challenge was put directly to the test in finding our 2021 College theme, whereby we all contributed, discussed, voted and then as a team presented as a unified body. We were given the opportunity to ask our own confronting questions to members of the College Executive about the topic of leadership. To hear the honest and relevant feedback from respected positions, prepared us for the year ahead.

On the Friday we had the opportunity to work with the new 2021 Year Ambassadors, as well as the 2020 Junior School Captain and Vice Captains. This provided each new Year Prefect with an opportunity to work with their new Year Ambassadors. Starting with talking about the College and their respective Year groups, the new Prefects and Year Ambassadors quickly got to work on planning many great initiatives for the year ahead.

The two-day workshop reinforced within us the confidence and passion to serve with purpose in every way possible.
