Reconciliation Week - Be a voice for generations

Often in Reconciliation Week, there is a lot of new learning and fantastic new displays go up in our classrooms. What is most exciting this year is that a lot of what we see in our classrooms this week is material that has been there all year round.

To see the mix of Reconciliation Week specific displays and our ongoing Indigenous focus in classroom libraries, morning routines and daily learning is a thing for all staff to be proud of.

Our visit from Trent Hill, indigenous PE games and a Taoundi visit for indigenous kids and families are a great way to celebrate culture, but what is even more important is the fact that the cultural focus in our classrooms stays with us all year round.

Trent Hill Visit

Students and staff enjoyed our Incursion on Monday with Trent Hill.  It was fantastic for the students to learn about Aboriginal culture and listen to a dreamtime story as well as many other interesting facts.

Thanks to those teachers for being flexible with swapping times to enable Trent to depart earlier for a personal emergency. Those classes that missed out on seeing Trent this time will be part of his next Incursion which will be during Term 3.

Music in Reconcilliation Week

In music, all of our students have been using our Indigenous Hopscotch painting to learn the numbers 1-10 in Kaurna. They are also working on a welcome song to be used in assemblies, and even learning to use numbers one to four to count-in their music!
