Visual Arts
Mrs Borg:
Years Five and Six have been very busy this term in Visual Arts, completing their biome (habitat) backgrounds. This was a project they commenced with their previous art teacher Ms Popovic and have worked hard to continue to complete this artwork to include animals which belong in the specific habitat and a painted background. Year Five students focused on the desert and the Year Six students focused on the coral reef.
Year Four students focused on the art element Perspective. In particular, the focus was ‘One Point Perspective’ which is a drawing method that shows how things appear to get smaller as they get further away. Students were working on an aquarium drawing, using oil pastels and water colour.
Year Three students were also working on a similar project about form and perspective by creating the illusion of a warm winter mug. They also focused on the 3D element being the mug, as well as colour and patterns for the background, also using oil pastels and water colour.
NB: Students are continuing to complete and assemble this artwork, therefore the image below is an example only.
The Year Foundation students have been continuing their understanding of 'collage' and focused on creating a self-portrait. Students had lots of fun using various materials and fabric. They were continuing to consolidate their understanding of their local community and how they are each an important part of their community, which was the inspiration for this artwork.
Mr. Palombo:
Years One and Two have had fantastic and very creative terms 1 and 2. Students have explored the Artwork of contemporary Mexican Artist Louisa Carrington and her amazing children's book; The milk of Dreams. Students worked in a Surreal mode and created their fantastical animals. They prepared a large portable mural with their fantastical animals and worked in clay to make three-dimensional figurines of their fantastical animals.
