Year 4 Report

Term 1

A big congratulations to the Grade 4 students for completing another term of growth and success. We wish all students and their families a safe and enjoyable break!

 

Literacy

In Reading, Grade 4 students have been learning about the purpose and audience of persuasive letters. During this time, they have explored the structure and language features used in persuasive writing. Students have also been predicting, questioning, critiquing, and making connections to a range of texts while building their reading stamina. 

 

In Writing, students have been creating persuasive letters that follow the correct text structure and language features of persuasive. Students have been expressing their ideas and opinions for an intended audience. We enjoyed publishing these letters for Writers’ Festival. Thank you to all the friends and families who attended. The Grade 4 teachers are so proud of our superstar writers!

 

 

Maths

In Maths, students have been developing their multiplication and division skills through a range of activities. Our Maths lessons aim to engage the students in the learning of concepts and skills through games, hands-on activities and technology. 

Students have been exploring a range of skills to help them solve multiplication and division problems. A popular activity this term was 

 

 

Inquiry

This term, students have been learning about democracy and how it has changed over time. Students have explored their rights and responsibilities within their community. Students have been learning about the rules and laws associated with local, state and federal government. They have been researching the services and support provided by their local council to present an oral presentation to their peers.

 

 

Social and Emotional Learning

During SEL this term, Grade 4 students have been learning to understand the natural emotions they face and exploring the best ways to articulate how they feel. Students have been learning about the difference between social cues and signs that they can see in their friends when they communicate. There has been a focus on the importance of showing bravery and the importance of persevering. Students will continue to develop their growth mindset and apply this in all of their learning areas. 

 

 

Reminders

  • Attending school each day is very important to help your child's social, emotional and academic growth. Please make sure you are sending your child to school. 
  • School starts at 8:50am and finishes at 3:10pm - please make sure you are on time.
  • Use the SENTRAL app or call the school if your child is absent.
  • Parent/Teacher Interviews - 21st and 22nd of June.
  • 3/4 Camp 2nd - 4th August.
