IN OUR CLASSROOMS

In our reading sessions we have been looking at persuasive texts and identifying the author's point of view. Students have been assessing the words and phrases used in persuasive writing and how they appeal to the reader.

In our writing sessions, students finished up their 'twisted fairytales' and started looking at persuasive writing. Students have been focusing on clearly stating their point of view and supporting this with multiple reasons.

In Maths we have been exploring the relationship between addition and subtraction and have been working on column addition and subtraction, involving carrying and borrowing.

In our Science inquiry we have been exploring the needs of living things and the way plants adapt over time in order to survive.

Last week we were lucky enough to have a visit from Paralympic and Olympic table tennis champion, Milly Tapper. Milly talked to the students about her journey to becoming an Olympian and spoke of the wonderful people she has encountered along the way and how they haven't let their disabilities stop them becoming elite athletes. She spoke about showing up everyday and doing your best and being grateful for what you have. All students absolutely loved hearing Milly's story - she is an amazing and inspiring person! Without a doubt, one of the highlights was being able to try on her Olympic uniforms and touch and try on a real life Olympic medal!
