Graduation

For the second year in a row, the Valeté Celebration was held online. Our Year 12 graduates were provided with a gift box containing an Old Collegians tie, gifts from the Parents and Friends Association including a ‘Class of 2021’ keyring and tie clip, and a number of gifts from the College including a graduation stole and beanie.

On the day of the graduation ceremony, families were sent a grazing box, courtesy of the College.

The celebration itself provided a way to honour the involvement of the Class of 2021 and their parents, in the life of the College. College Vice-Captain, Elijah McEvoy acted as master of ceremonies and did a fantastic job tying everything together. Beginning with a liturgy led by Fr Andrew Jekot and tie ceremony led by Old Collegians Association President, Mr Jason Smythe, the night also included Mr John Finn’s Principal’s address, our College Captain, Aidan Carroll giving his final College Captain’s address, and Mrs Debra Valentine providing some words on behalf of the Parents and Friends Association. A number of students were recognised as recipients of Valeté Awards and it was announced that the ‘College All Rounder’ award would be renamed from 2022 onwards to honour this year’s recipient, Rhys Gillard. The Year 12s received a number of tributes from members of the St Bede’s community and beyond and as a community, we hope that the Class of 2021 and their families found the event to be a fitting tribute to a cohort who have experienced a range of challenges in recent years.
