E-Books & Audio Books Access

Looking for a good read online? Don’t forget, students, staff and their families have access to ebooks and audiobooks via the library website.  Junior students across both campuses have been shown how to access ebooks and audiobooks in their library lessons.

Resource Centre staff would like to encourage everyone to have a look at what is on offer using the instructions below:

  1. From SIMON, click on Resource Centre under School Links or Student Links
  2. Login using your St Bede’s details:
    1. Students - your code ending with the number, e.g. STARR21 and your normal St Bede’s password.
    2. Staff - your St Bede’s initials e.g. RJS and your normal St Bede’s password.
  3. You should now be on a screen that has six brightly coloured buttons starting with a yellow button for reading.
  4. From this screen, click on the blue button saying “eBooks & Audiobooks” on the bottom left.
  5. You are now able to start browsing through the St Bede’s ebooks and audiobooks.   You can enter the name of a book, author or other search term into the Search field or click on the Start Browsing button.

       6.  Clicking on the Start Browsing button allows you to start searching the entire                          collection. If a cover is faded out, it means that the book is on loan.  You can click                  on the cover and reserve the book and you will be notified via email when the book              is available.   A book with the symbol of headphones is an audio book.

       7.  When you find a book you would like to read, click on the cover to read more about

the book and then click on the blue borrow button to loan it out.  You will need to login again to borrow the book.

8.  Each loan is for 14 days. You will be notified that your loan is about to expire and may have the opportunity to re borrow the book if no one else is waiting to read it.           9.  You can read the book on your laptop or download the eplatform app to read the book on your mobile device.

We would like to encourage everyone to browse the collection which has over 3000 titles. You are bound to find something to enjoy.
