Classical Music and Rhythm

As spring is upon us, all grades have studied “Spring”  the violin concerto from Vivialdi’s  The Four Seasons. The students learned to identify the nature noises that Vivaldi depicted in his masterpiece.

SLC and MLC  learnt about the different instrumentation in Vivaldi's Spring. They listened to different musician’s interpretations of the piece, and studied the sheet music for dynamic markings and clues to the composer's intentions.

They were introduced to the structure of musical theatre and  studied the different categories that musical theatre songs fall into. Using examples from multiple musicals including Disney we learned about “I am songs”, “I want songs” and the 11 O'clock number.

Prep and JLC practiced 'taa titi' and 'toe' rhythms. They learned new songs, dances and clapping rhythm games.

In response to RU OK day, the students watched and responded to the Pixar film Boundin.

Kind Regards
