What is your leadership portfolio?

Social Justice Prefect

What are the key responsibilities of your Portfolio?

The key responsibilities of my portfolio include actively participating in and promoting key Social Justice issues, as well as helping to plan and implementing initiatives to aid the poor, disadvantaged and marginalised.

What are you most excited about in your leadership portfolio?

I am most excited about actively inspiring all year groups to become involved in all the initiatives that SPC have a proud tradition of performing and encouraging new initiatives to evolve from ideas of the whole community. I will be approachable and always be willing to listen to new and exciting ideas.

What is something about you that others may be surprised to know?

I know almost all the flags of the world and have always been fascinated by them.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

It’s My Life by Bon Jovi – ‘It’s my life. And it’s now or never’. We only have one life. I will never procrastinate on the things that matter to me. Even if I fail, I will dust myself off and try again.

If you could visit one country in the world, where would you go? Why?

I have always found European cities very interesting and inspiring, and because of this I would love to visit Spain, firstly for the historical significance and secondly for their cuisine.

What are your interests outside of school?

Ever since I can remember I have had an avid interest in sport cars. I also passionately support LFC and enjoy playing all sports.

Anthony Chahin

What is your leadership portfolio?

My leadership portfolio is the Spirituality/Faith Formation Prefect.

What are the key responsibilities of your Portfolio?

The key responsibilities of my leadership role are to be active in spreading the gospel through my actions and words. To be someone that people look up to as a ‘Christ like model’ and help those who are living on the margins.

What are you most excited about in your leadership portfolio?

The thing I'm most excited about in my role is being able to talk to others about our faith and spreading the good news of God to those around me. I'm looking forward to working with Paul, Josh, Francis and Ms Daley in building up on the identity of the college.

What is something about you that others may be surprised to know?

Something that many people do not know about me is that I enjoy listening to a lot of music.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

Where is the love? by Black Eyed Peas. This song has a lot of meaning as it talks about all the evil and hatred that is going on in society. It looks for guidance from our father God in heaven and asking him ‘where is the love?’ This song resonates with me because there will always be bad in our world, but it is about showing love to those around you and trying to make it a better place.

If you could visit one country in the world where would you go? Why?

Lebanon, as many of my family members currently live there and is one of the most beautiful countries in the world with such a great history.

What are your interests outside of school?

I enjoy spending time with mates and having a laugh. I love watching and playing sports especially basketball and footy.

Joshua Chander

What is your leadership portfolio?

I am the Sustainability Prefect for 2022 and my portfolio comes under the umbrella of Identity of the College.

What are the key responsibilities of your Portfolio?

The key responsibility of my portfolio is leading the commitment to caring for our natural environment and aspire students and staff at SPC to adopt and appreciate sustainable practices to nurture our Earth.

What are you most excited about in your leadership portfolio?

I am excited that I can share my passion and commitment for sustainability with students and staff at SPC. As Pope Francis said, “Future generations will never forgive us if we miss the opportunity to protect our common home.” We are the future, and this role provides me an opportunity to rise to this challenge with my peers to play an active role in educating and developing skills for sustainable Earth.

What is something about you that others may be surprised to know?

I like bushwalking and playing drums.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

Earth Song by Michael Jackson. It portrays the suffering of Mother Earth.

If you could visit one country in the world where would you go? Why?

I would like to visit Kiribati to raise awareness how climate change is leading to rise in sea levels and destroying homes of the local people.

What are your interests outside of school?

Playing basketball with my friends.

Francis Ters

What is your leadership portfolio?

I am the Inclusive Community Prefect at St Patrick’s College, now one of the four identity prefects at the college.

What are the key responsibilities of your Portfolio?

My responsibility is to ensure that at this college, everyone feels welcome. We’re all created in God’s image, and no one should be judged or prejudiced against because of their race, personal beliefs, or identity. I also aim to bring about recognition to and reconciliation for Indigenous first nations people, on which land this college was built on.

What are you most excited about in your leadership portfolio?

I’m most excited about getting to meet and know the many students and members of the college community and the vastly diverse nationalities and backgrounds they originate from.

What is something about you that others may be surprised to know?

I’m an avid fan of NRL. I know everything there is to know about rugby league, the players, the statistics and all the rules. The only thing I don’t know is how well the Bulldogs will do next year, but time will tell.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

A good theme song for my life would be ‘Bent to Fly’ by Slash featuring Myles Kennedy. The message of the song is self-explanatory, but it is something that I resonate highly with. I believe that we should all aspire to “fly”, and if we do, then we’ll achieve many things.

If you could visit one country in the world, where would you go? Why?

I would visit Papua New Guinea. From the stories I’ve heard from the boys who went on immersions there, the folk of PNG are some of the most welcoming and enjoyable people to be around - and they love their footy, which is always a plus in my books.

What are your interests outside of school?

I enjoy all types of sports and like to exercise at my gym and the park. I also like to hang out with mates whenever possible.
