Communicating with the Specialist Team

This term our school is fortunate to have secured the services of Miss Jessica Kidd to deliver the Health and Physical Education Program for the remainder of Term Four. 

In her first week on-site, Miss Kidd has delivered yoga lessons for our junior students, basketball sessions for our senior students, and engaged in preparation for our upcoming Table Tennis and Baseball Clinics. 


Victorian State Volleyball Team Update

Before we look at the overview for the remainder of Term Four, we would like to acknowledge the amazing efforts of Jack H (Year 6) who was earlier this year selected in the Victorian State Volleyball Team (under 14's). Jack is the only primary school student across the entire state who was selected to represent Victoria at the Australian Volleyball Championships. 


Curriculum Update

 

Foundation: Students practise and refine their Movement and Fundamental Motor Skills. Theses core concepts will be the main focus of lessons to allow for new and learned skill development, muscle memory and the improved ability to cooperate in a small team.

 

As a part of the Health Component, students will learn how to behave as a good sports persons and the values attached to being a good team member.

Year One/Two: Students will continue to practise and refine their Fundamental Motor Skills (FMS). They will participate in small team games to apply these new and learned skills. 

 

As a part of the Health Component, Level 1students will learn how to behave has a good sports persons and the values attached to being a good team member.

As a part of the Health Component, Level 2 students will begin to look at the basics of the Healthy Food Pyramid. They will develop an understanding of why each section represents a different set of foods and their importance. 

 

Year Three/Four: Students will be introduced to both Target and Invasion games for this term. We will begin with skill practise before moving into any match play. The intension of this is so students have an understanding of the required skills that are needed to participate in the game. It also allows them to build confidence before moving into gameplay. 

 

In week 8, the students will participate in a four week Baseball Sporting Schools Program. The focus of this program will be to develop and enhance the students throwing, striking and teamwork skills

 

As a part of the Health Component, the students will dissect the aspects of the Healthy Food Pyramid and strategies they can utilise to apply it to their everyday lives.

Year Five/Six: students will be introduced to both Target and Invasion games for this term. We will begin with skill practise before moving into any match play. The intention of this structure is so students have understanding of the required skills that are needed to participate in the game. It also allows them to build confidence before moving into gameplay. 

 

In week 8, the students will participate in a four week Baseball Sporting Schools Program. The focus of this program will be to develop and enhance the students throwing, striking and teamwork skills

 

As a part of the Health Component, students will focus on the aspect of Mental Health and the importance it plays in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

 

Upcoming Events Term 4:

This term we have Table Tennis Victoria Clinics and Baseball Victoria Clinics arranged for our students.
