THANK YOU!!

Wow! What a fantastic start we have had back to onsite learning! It has been so exciting and rewarding to see all the students return to the classroom and settle back into the routines of school with great enthusiasm. We were thrilled to be back teaching the children face to face and supporting them through the last term of their Foundation year.

We would like to thank everyone for all their efforts during Remote Learning this year! We understand how tough it has been for all our families and we appreciate all the hard work and effort you and your children have put in over the year! Navigating the Google Classroom, logging on to WebEx meetings each week and assisting your children with all learning tasks, as well as some of you working yourselves, has been an enormous effort!

The children have returned to the classroom with focus and have been working hard in all areas of their learning. We have been very impressed with their work and the way they have adjusted back at school.

INQUIRY

This term in Inquiry, the Foundation students are studying a science unit about life and the Animal World. They are investigating what is classified as living and non-living and learning about what living things need to successfully survive, including themselves.

The students will also be introduced to the idea that animals live in different places where their basic needs (including food, water and shelter) are met, and that animals have a variety of external features to suit their environment. They will be exploring a variety of habitats such as the ocean, rainforests, deserts and snow and looking at the different animals that live in these environments.

Some of the questions we will investigate and research together this term are:

  • How do we know if something is alive?
  • What do animals need to stay alive?
  • What do living things need in order to grow and change?
  • What are some different types of animals that we know of?
  • How do we classify (sort) them?
  • What do animals eat?
  • What features help animals to survive in their habitat?
  • How do animals move? How does this help them survive?
  • What are the basic needs of humans? How do these needs compare to the needs of other animals?

100 DAYS OF SCHOOL

100 DAYS CELEBRATION!
100 DAYS CELEBRATION!

This year has been a very interrupted year and has impacted on our ability to count the days we have been at school/remote learning! As we are back to onsite learning, we have decided to celebrate our 100 Days Of Learning on Friday 12th November! This is a fantastic day of celebrations and involves a variety of activities based around the number 100.

To help celebrate the occasion, we encourage all students to come to school in “100” themed attire. We encourage you to be creative with your dress-up. Some ideas to prompt your thinking are:

-          dressing as a 100 year-old person

-          dressing as a cricket player who has scored a century, or similar

-          dressing as a student, occupation or person from 100 years ago

-          dressing up to represent something which may come in hundreds

-          wearing the number 100 on you, such as a t-shirt with tally marks or similar

-          searching ideas online for “100 days of school dress-ups”.

A themed dress-up is encouraged, but not compulsory. Students who would prefer to wear their school uniform will also be provided with the option of wearing a prop or similar, if they choose to during the celebrations.

See below for the detailed notice regarding the 100 Days of School celebrations.
