RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

First Communion for our current Year 4 students

As you know, due to Lockdown 6.0 we had to postpone the First Communion ceremonies for our Year 4 students.

Father Kevin and I met and planned some tentative dates in Term 4 when it may be possible to hold the ceremonies.

At the moment, the churches are closed and only 5 people (including the priest and those who are filming) can be present at Sunday Masses.

For our First Communion ceremonies to go ahead, we would need to have the restrictions eased to the point where we can have 100 people permitted in the church.

We think that our best options are to wait until 100 can attend and have 3 ceremonies with approximately 10 families at each one.

These could be:

Ceremony 1: On a Saturday at 3:30pm

Ceremony 2: at 5:30pm

on the same day (Saturday)

and Ceremony 3: on the following day

(Sunday) at 3:30pm.

Some possible dates could be:

Saturday, 6th November  (3:30 & 5:30pm)

& Sunday, 7th November   (3:30pm)

OR Saturday,13th November  (3:30 & 5:30pm)  & Sunday,14th November  (3:30pm)

OR Saturday,20th November  (3:30 & 5:30pm)  & Sunday, 21st November (3:30pm).

If none of these dates eventuate, we will reconsider the situation in Term 4 and try to arrange alternative dates before the end of the school year.

Hopefully we can go ahead with the ceremonies next term!

Kind regards,  Karen Whiting.
