Classroom Reports

Foundation & 1

We are all counting down the days until the eggs in the incubator hatch. Lucas's mum, Adele, has set up the incubator in our room with a variety of chook eggs. She candled the eggs and we got to see the developing chickens: wow! We also had another wow moment when we received a plateful of gingerbread man biscuits from Mrs Woodman, as an appreciation for walking into Assembly with the Year 12 students on their last day. The gingerbread men were eaten slowly as we wrote subtraction equations for each bite. We are becoming very good at these take-aways that maybe Mrs Woodman could make us a 'millipede-man'!

Year 1 & 2

This week we have learning to tell the time to the hour and half hour. We are starting to work out how to read the minutes after the hour. Keep practising at home. Do you know what o’clock stands for? Ask us….we do!

In Inquiry we are continuing to learn about how we live in our local places. We have also been comparing our local places to what would have been the traditional indigenous dwellings and places around Wedderburn, many years ago.

Great to see everyone’s reading improving, especially the students that read regularly at home. Don’t forget to check what tricky words and spelling patterns we are learning – they will be stuck in the reading diary. Test your child, they are all so smart!

Have a great week.

Year 12 students are welcome to study on site at school during their SWOTVAC and between scheduled exams. They are reminded to wear full school uniform and sign in and out at the front office.

We would also like to remind students to continue to be mindful of their

NCCTC:

Please double check with your VET teacher that your course has been completed. There is an opportunity for students to continue attending to ensure they can ‘tick off’ all requirements by the end of the school year.

Year 11 Exams:

Although the year is rapidly drawing to a close, it is important for our Year 11 VCE students to be at school each day until Friday 26 November. These students will undertake their end of year examinations between Monday 15 and Friday 19 of November. These examinations are an important part of our VCE student’s schooling and provide an opportunity to prepare for their future Year 12 exams. Students should be revising their class content and undertaking study in preparation. Step up week will take place between Monday 22 and Friday 26 November.

Please find below a copy of our Year 11 end of year examination timetable which will take place in Week 7 of Term 4. All exams will take place in Room 21.

Students should bring only the materials required to each exam, including pens, pencils, calculator etc. No pencil cases or textbooks will be permitted. Students are required to stay for the duration of the exam and will not be able to leave early.

Students are to undertake private study in the Library when not sitting their exams. If students would prefer to study at home, parents/guardians are asked to sign students out at the front office when appropriate and as required.

ALL Year 11 VCE and VCAL students will take part in our ‘Step Up’ week from Monday 22 November until Friday 26 November. ‘Step Up’ provides a great opportunity for students to gain a head start to their Year 12 studies. It is extremely important that all students attend. A ‘Step Up’ timetable will be released to students through Compass.

Please remember that our Year 11 VCAL students are expected to continue to attend formal classes at Wedderburn College until Friday 19 November and then take part in ‘Step Up’ classes the following week.

Any individual student clashes will be discussed and arranged as needed. Please speak with Mrs Woodman or Mrs Barker if needed.
