Playgroup 2014
Amy Byrnes, Playgroup Co-ordinator
PinS is a supported playgroup which adopts the Learning Together approach with a numeracy and literacy focus. The program is based on national and international research affirming the crucial importance of the very early years of life in laying the foundation for children's learning and well-being. We are keen to get our playgroup up and running for 2014 and require your expression of interest. Forms are now available via the attachment below, the front office or at Lockleys Preschool. We will be working together building strong connections between Preschool, School and our families. Please return expression of interest forms by Friday 7th March to either Lockleys North Primary School or Preschool so that we can begin to organise the preferred playgroup sessions, numbers and staffing for this term.
We look forward to making connections with our families and continue building on and strengthening our partnerships in 2014 and beyond.
Around the Yard
Belinda Adams, Principal
This week the aqua bubblers, purchased from funds raised in last year's Lap-a-thon, have been installed. They are situated at the western end of the gym, on Fisher opposite OSHC, near the entrance to the office and on the end of Tirkandi, opposite LA 15.
To compliment these the two drinking fountains on the eastern end of the gym have also had cooling installed. You will also see that the last of the old, blue wooden benches have been removed and replaced with new metal ones at the end of Mellor and under the new shade at the end of the admin building. The sand pits in the junior primary playground have also been refilled.
Pupil Free Day
On Monday the staff were treated to a motivating day learning about different spelling strategies and how to teach them in a fun and meaningful way. This will be followed up with an incursion on Monday 17th March, by the presenter Chris Killey, who will work with classes to develop a deeper understanding of these methodologies. The session will be subsidised by the school and cost $4 per student. This includes several pieces of equipment to use. Information and an invoice will be sent home about the day this week.
