From the Library
Book Week Celebrations : Alice Pung OAM
On Tuesday last week we were very excited to welcome author Alice Pung to the library. Alice spoke to a large group of students about her experiences growing up in the western suburbs, her parents and siblings, experiences that have shaped her and gave writing advice. The audience was spellbound.
Students and staff agreed Alice was one of the best speakers we have hosted.
Alice was presented with a History of Northcote High School and some small NHS merch as a thank you for her presentation by Year 8 student Alice Horacek.
We have a large collection of Alice’s work in the library including Unpolished Gem, Her Father’s Daughter, Close to Home, Laurinda, 100 Days and more.
Book week craft activities also included notebook decorating, with students enjoying embellishing notebooks with washi tape, decorative paper, stickers, and coloured Sharpies. There are still a few notebooks available for this activity, if you are interested please see Library staff.
Book Bingo cards are due by 4pm September 6
Don't forget to complete a Bingo (one row of 5 books horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) or a Blackout (all 25 categories) for your chance to win a great prize!
