Wellbeing - Emily Murcott

Since returning from long service leave, I am reminded of the amazing things that happen within our community. Before returning I was wondering how on earth  how I could return to working 5 days a week and work to a schedule. I loved the carefree, nomadic roaming of northern Australia; I ate when I was hungry, I slept when it got dark (and cold) and when I dozed off during the day, I rose when the sun rose and I didn't have to be anywhere by a particular time.

In the first week of my return was the school Science Night. I was reminded how amazing this community is by the amount of happy and enthusiastic people who attended and showed their family around the school. The energy was infectious, the smiles were endless and the positivity was in the air. I am incredibly grateful to all the staff who invested their time and energy towards yet another successful evening. I am grateful that families braved a weeknight out of your homes to be part of this event. I am grateful to the students who were excited to come along and share their knowledge and love for science with their families.

I have looked around our school and the events that occurred or where being planned throughout my first week back and I noticed all the love and support your children receive in so many different ways. I am incredibly grateful to Gillian W for volunteering her Wednesday mornings to assist with the Breakfast Club. Every week, without fail, she joins staff in the canteen to toast over 100 pieced of bread to help keep students focused until they eat again at recess. Thankyou so much Gillian.

I am grateful for the dedication and drive that Mel Layton had to ensure that Hoop Time went ahead for our grade 3-6, and soon to be 1 and 2 students. For those who were unaware, 5/6 Hoop Time nearly didn't go ahead. She rallied the local schools and prepared the event at the last minute .

Things like this happen each day. I feel awkward mentioning just a few groups of people and not everything that other staff, students and families have done to contribute to the amazing RHPS community recently. However, you can assist me in doing this by letting me know what other people have done and are doing to make our community the way it is today. To make a "shoutout", please email me at emily.murcott@education.vic.gov.au and I will endeavour to add this to the next newsletter.

All in all I am incredibly grateful to be part of this community and you all make a positive contribution, and I just want to say
