Physical Education

Over the past fortnight, our students have been focussing on the following skills:

Prep – Striking with a light-weight racquet

Grade 1/2 – Underarm throw

Grade 3/4 – Invasion Games

Grade 5/6 – Sport Education in Physical Education Program (SEPEP), linking to community sport.

Hoop Time

We were very excited to have Hoop Time back on our calendar this year after two years of cancellations! Across a two-week period, we had 145 students from Grades 3 – 6 participate in these events at Kilsyth Basketball Stadium. The most out of any of the schools in our District! Both were great days, filled with fun and excitement and were enjoyed by students, parents and staff alike.

For our Grade 5/6 day, we had one All Star Boys team, two Future Stars teams and six Rookies teams. We had some very close matches with our All Star Boys team making the grand final and winning against Montrose. Congratulations!

For our Grade 3/4 day, we entered one All Star Boys team, three Future Stars teams and five Rookies teams. We had two Future Stars teams make semi-finals and our All Star Boys team make the grand final. Whilst playing gallantly, all teams narrowly lost their finals.

A HUGE thank you to the staff, siblings and parent helpers for their coaching, scoring and assistance with teams on the day and to all of the parents and friends who came to support Rolling Hills. The day literally would not have run without you!

Finally, congratulations to all students in grades 3 – 6 who were involved in Hoop time this year. You did a fantastic job, representing the School with pride and displaying great TRIBES Agreements, especially Personal Best. You should all be very proud of your behaviour, effort, and sportsmanship. Well done!

District Athletics

Congratulations to the 50 Grade 3 – 6 students who represented Rolling Hills at the Montrose District Athletics Carnival, held at Morrison Reserve Athletics Track on Friday 2nd September. Students competed against competitors from the following Primary Schools: Mt Evelyn, Montrose, Pembroke, Ruskin Park, St Pat’s, St Mary’s and MECS.

We had a great day with all students giving 100% in their events, producing many outstanding results! I would like to thank all students for their enthusiasm, effort and wonderful behaviour on the day. A special thanks to the students who filled in for an event at very short notice. Thank you also to Ms Allan and Ms McCandlish for their help on the day and to all the parents and friends who came along to support Rolling Hills.

A further special mention must go to the students who finished first or second in their event/s and will represent the Montrose District at the Yarra Division Athletics Championships on Thursday 6th October. Our Grade 5/6 students will be enjoying their time at Camp Coonawarra but we wish our Grade 3/4 representatives the best of luck!
