Year F/1

Week 8

Congratulations to Rocco on reading 50 nights and Aria on 150 nights of home reading so far this year.

In the F/1 class this week, we are focusing on non-fiction texts and writing information reports.  We have been researching bees and finding out interesting information and facts. We have been learning about diagrams, glossaries and the content page.

In Maths, we have been learning about MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!

We have made coin rubbings, played with money, ordered coins to their size and value. The Year 1s are also skip counting using 5 cents, 10 cents and $2. They have been adding small groups of coins to make a total.

FOR THE PARENTS - Money is a very important life skill

Show your children where money goes.

Use everyday situations to teach your kids about money, including where it comes from and where it goes.

When you tap and pay, explain that when you tap your card, it talks to your bank who has your money in your bank account.

When you tap to pay it uses money that you've made by working and saving.

Each time you tap and pay, you have less money in your account.

While shopping, teach your children how much things cost by showing them the

different prices for similar items.

This will help them start to see the connection between work and the cost of things.
