Sharing your child's education journey with parents and carers.

Positive Letters Home

We continue to celebrate the successes of our students at MHS. Our teachers use varying rewards methods, including Merit Awards and Positive Incidents on Sentral, to acknowledge our safe, respectful learners. This term 591 Positive Wellbeing Incidents were logged on Sentral. In addition to this, students who received 3 or more Positive Incidents received letters of recognition. The letters were generated by the Positive Behaviour for Learning Team and were mailed home. Parents and caregivers can also access these incidents using the Sentral Parent Portal.

Career Expo

A Career Expo was organised for L.E.A.P students at Merrylands High School to provide information to parents about their child's post-school options. Various stakeholders presented information on the day, including Ability Options, Granville TAFE, NOVA Employment, Ability Connex, Northcott, Wise Employment, and What Ability. In addition, several parents and guardians attended on the day and enquired about various post-school options for their children.

Learning Support Team

The school’s Learning and Support team ensures that our students with identified learning and support needs are provided with equal opportunities as their peers. One such recent event that was accessed by our Vision Impaired student was Activate Inclusion Sports Day at Netball Central, Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush.

This event was specifically catered for students who have a sensory, physical, or intellectual disability. Our student, Jasmine Otutaha, with the Vision Team and Learning and Support staff, participated in this event. Along with other students, Jasmine experienced modified sporting activities and adapted game play. Jasmine participated in all activities and scored basketball in the basket from the sitting position specially designed for the game in wheelchair. She actively participated in races and enjoyed yoga.
