Jersey Day

On Friday 2nd of September, the PDHPE Faculty and Support staff wore their sporting jerseys to raise awareness for organ donations.

It was a fitting time with Parramatta securing a top four sport and to celebrate the partnership the school have with community sporting teams. Good luck to all teams in the finals.

MADD Night

Merrylands High School collaborated with Granville South Creative and Performing Arts High School to acknowledge and celebrate the theatrical, musical and artistic talents of our students.

Community of Schools Granville South CAPA HS - Showcase

In August, Merrylands High School, Dance, Drama and Music students were invited to be a part of the Community of Schools Granville South CAPA HS - Showcase, along with Granville Public School. The Dance Ensemble performed their item ‘The Artistry of the Fan’; the Year 12 Drama group performed their playbuilt piece entitled ‘Seasonal Fit!’ and Yr 12 Music students Elena Paa and Gloria Posala performed ‘Give You Blue’. This was an awesome collaboration between 3 local schools, which enabled all students to showcase their talents in their respective areas. We were so proud to show off the skills of our very talented performing arts students. We were grateful to be given the opportunity to develop a performing arts partnership that should see our local schools develop more performance opportunities in the years to come.

National Science Week

The Library celebrated National Science Week with a fabulous display of Year 11 and Year 12 Biology students’ models for the topic “Body Systems”.

Everyone loved the Science joke.

CBCA Book week

August saw the celebration of the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) book week in the library.  The theme for this year was “Dreaming with eyes open”.  It was ironic that when searching using the search term “dreaming” many book explain Aboriginal Dreaming and the Dream time showed in the 101 results for this search term.
