Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and the wider community,

I hope all of our dads, step-dads, grandpas and father figures had a great day last Sunday for Fathers' Day.

Well done to our  senior sports teams who competed in our local Lightning Premiership at Kananook PS. The students had a great time and well done in particular to our Netball B team who won their section. Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended to support, the staff who were there taking responsibility as well as Grant Budge who has coached the football team each Friday.

On Wednesday this week we celebrated our Foundation 2023 Information Night. Over 30 of our families were in attendance and I would like to thank them for prioritising the night and to Mrs Winduss, Miss Eagling, Mrs Trower and Mrs Thomas for organising such a useful night.

Mrs Lacey has organised with our student Our House Spirit team to have a day together in our teams tomorrow. One of the strengths of our school is to have senior students organising activities for the younger students and doing their best to be positive role models. We are looking forward to our senior leaders doing this again tomorrow.

Last week 75 families received a link to complete a survey on how they have experienced/are experiencing our school. We use this data to reflect on what we have achieved and what we could work on in the future. If you are one of the families who received the link this year please find the time to complete the survey before Friday 16th September.

On Friday the NAPLAN results went home to families of the Year 3 and Year 5 students that completed these earlier in the year. As I have discussed many times before they are just one piece of data that we use for assessing how a student is achieving. They are a one off test on one day. Nonetheless the data has shown that in almost all areas tested that the student cohort's results have again trended in a positive fashion from previous years. Occasionally there will be an anomaly on how a student has achieved in a test and staff would welcome further discussion around this if you have concerns as a parent.

Some of our Year 6 students continue their preparations to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please find time to keep them and their families in your prayers.

God Bless and stay well
