From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents and Carers
We come to the end of a very busy term. There has been a real buzz around the College. There is so much to be thankful for and appreciate at Salvado Catholic College. It truly is a great place, and the community is a credit to all who are a part of it.
We had a wonderful Primary Athletics Carnival last Friday. All our students participated with enthusiasm and did their best! The sportsmanship was fantastic. Thank you to Mr Colin Loh and Mrs Nicole Goff, for once again planning and coordinating another great carnival. Thank you too, to all our staff who helped set up in the morning and pack up in the afternoon, as well as assist throughout the carnival. Very much appreciated! It was great to see such a large crowd cheering on our students and Houses on the day. Thanks to the parents/carers who assisted throughout the day and at the end of the day in packing up.
Our Year 6 students have had an awesome time on their camp at Woodman Point this week and have returned safely this afternoon. I spent Monday afternoon through to Wednesday morning with them all and was super proud of their enthusiasm and the way they conducted themselves throughout the camp. They are a great group of students.
A huge thank you to Mrs Mary Tierney Dusenberg, Mrs Clare Jeeves, Mrs Christine Pitman, Mrs Stephanie Osborne and Mr Thairon Jansen for attending the camp and looking after our Year 6 students over the last 3 days. A very big commitment and it is very much appreciated!
The Year 5 students and teachers are looking forward to visiting New Norcia on Friday and learning all about the town that was founded by Dom Rosendo Salvado. We wish them all safe travels as they too go on a journey.
Next Friday our College staff will be heading to Fremantle and then St Mary's Cathedral in the city, as we spend the day retracing Ursula Frayne's footsteps on her arrival in Western Australia in 1846, on the same ship as Dom Rosendo Salvado. As a staff we will be taking this professional learning opportunity to continue our journey in deepening our appreciation and understanding of our House patrons and their challenges, efforts and achievements all those years ago!
The final day of Term 3 for students is next Wednesday 21 September and we will finish the term celebrating Vincent House Day with a liturgy and activities. We will also have the Middle School Assembly on the Wednesday morning. I know there is much excitement amongst the students and families with the Make-a-Move concert for our Kindy and Pre-Primary students this Friday and our EduDance concert for our Year 1 to Year 6 students next Tuesday. We look forward to having the students showcase their moves!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents and carers that supported us in lots of different ways this term at Salvado Catholic College. Your efforts and time was much appreciated. I would also like to acknowledge our student's efforts in all aspects of school life at the College. We simply ask all our students to do their best and continue to strive for personal excellence, aspiring not to have more, but be more!
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing staff at Salvado Catholic College for their commitment and efforts once again this term. Our staff work very hard, and go above and beyond in their vocation as part of our growing College. Always for the betterment of our students! Thank you for your contribution to our TEAM!
We look forward to moving in upstairs at the beginning of next term in our Science and Design Block, and enjoying the 10 new Learning Spaces and our new Library and Technology Hub that all our students across the College will be visiting and using. As our Year 7 and Year 8 students move into new Learning Spaces upstairs, some of our downstairs spaces will be used for Dance and Drama, Music and Digital Technology.
Our sincere thanks to our architects Paterson Architects for your design work and managing of the project and to BE Projects for completing the fit out so professionally. We can't wait to start using the new spaces!
Wishing everyone a safe and happy holidays with family and friends.
Peace & Happy Days!
