Zone Athletics
On Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th September we represented our school for Zone Athletics in track and field events. They were both hot days as we all competed in either 1500m, discus, shotput, long jump and high jump on Tuesday and 200m, 100m, 800m and relay on the Wednesday. They were both fun days as we got to roam around the place. The teachers that went were Miss McCurry, Miss Gibbs and Nathan. Unfortunately, no one went to regionals but Sione, Omar and myself went through to the finals.

Well done to everyone for qualifying for Zone!
Debating
An amazing effort from our debating teams, Woodies Winners and Woodies Warriors! We went a range of schools and had a few 'home games', constantly improved in our planning, time (the longer the better!) and our rebuttals.
Our debaters this year were Tahleah, Chrisneel, Nio, Olivia and Mikayla, Aiden, Skye, Chloe. Our positions were somewhat flexible, it started out like this:
1st speakers: Tahleah and Mikayla
2nd speakers: Chrisneel and Aiden
3rd speakers: Nio and Skye
4th speakers: Olivia and Chloe
Awesome debating, we love how your times lengthened, your confidence grew and your efforts rose! Well done.
Public Speaking
These Stage 2 and 3 students represented our school for the 2022 Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition! We received some excellent feedback on our speeches that we can take forward into future planning, writing and presenting.
Excellent efforts! We are so proud!Woodland Road Public School Public Speaking Competition
This term all students were encouraged to participate in our school’s public speaking competition. They had the choice of preparing a speech on a range of topics across all stages. Each class held their own competition, followed by a stage competition with two students representing each class. One student was then selected from each of the stage finals to represent our school in the Regional South Operational Directorate (RSOD) competition for the Campbelltown Network. This competition will be held next term in week 2 at our own school in the hall!
The following students will be representing Woodland Road Public School:
Early Stage 1: Niamh
Stage 1: Harper
Stage 2: Lara
Stage 3: Zavier
Congratulations and best of luck in the next phase of the competition!
Spelling Bee
Congratulations Chrisneel and Abigail!Brain Strain
On Thursday 1st September, Christian, Travis, Zavier, Shalin and our teacher Mrs Williams went to a Year 5 Brain Strain competition at Ruse Public School and competed against 21 other schools.
We tried our hardest with all the tough challenges and every 45 minutes they hosted a ‘Minute to Win It’ game. Our squad was very happy after the first ‘Minute to Win It’ because Christian did 25 bottle flips in one minute and won the whole gang a fruit scented pen with multiple colours attached. The Woodies team won lots of rounds and when it was lunch time we got to play and we also had donuts which we loved! We were the only school to win two prizes. The second prize was a big bouquet of balloons for being the tidiest school in the competition. The challenges we did were Australian trivia, mathematics, Did You Notice, language and STEM challenge.
Christian’s favourite activity was mathematics, Travis’s favourite was the STEM challenge, Zavier’s favourite was Australian trivia and Shalin’s favourite was Did You Notice. Overall we had a great time and it's a memory we will never forget at Brain Strain.
By the Brain Strain crew :)
